The short answer

Your Empire is a free browser game with the same basic shape as 1 in 8 Billion: a random start, one life lived until it ends, pause and speed controls and a summary at the end. The seat is different. In 1 in 8 Billion you live one person's life built on real statistics from 172 countries. In Your Empire you rule an invented empire on a map of 4,396 real cities, through a life of 60 to 100 years

Your Empire is an independent game. It is not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by 1 in 8 Billion or its operator. 1 in 8 Billion and 1in8b are names used by their owners, and this page uses no logos or screenshots from the game

What 1 in 8 Billion is, and why people look for more

1 in 8 Billion (also written 1in8b) is a free life simulation that runs in the browser, and it is still in beta. You are born at random as one of the world's people and live that single life to its end, using real statistics from 172 countries, with sources such as the UN, the World Bank and the WHO

You choose how long a session lasts (about 30 minutes, 1 hour or 1.5 hours), pause or speed time up to 16x, set a focus for each year and answer decisions about school, work, love, moving abroad and medical care. Four meters track health, happiness, knowledge and relationships, and at ages 5, 15, 30, 50 and 70 the game stops to ask you one reflective question

It went viral in October 2026 and is known as 80億分の1 in Japan, 80억 분의 1 in Korea and 1 sur 8 milliards in France. Players say it made them cry. People who finish one life often want to play another, and that is what this page is for

What Your Empire shares with 1 in 8 Billion

They are different games, but the core will feel familiar

  • A random start

You do not pick who you are. In 1 in 8 Billion the game draws a birth for you. In Your Empire it draws a country, 2 to 5 real neighboring cities and a young ruler, a man or a woman by chance, anywhere on Earth

  • One life, lived to its end

Both games give you a single life and let it finish. In Your Empire the ruler lives 60 to 100 years, the span is random and hidden, and stress takes years off it

  • Pause and speed

Time runs by itself and you control it. 1 in 8 Billion offers pause and speeds up to 16x. Your Empire runs one game year per real minute, with pause and x1, x2, x5 and x10, and it pauses on its own for every event

  • A look back at the life

When the life ends, both games show you what it was. Your Empire gives you a final card with your stats, an epithet such as the Cruel or the Builder and the facts worth sharing, plus a chronicle of every event and choice

  • Choices you understand later

Both games make you choose now and live with it. In Your Empire an event shows what changes right away as arrows and icons, never exact numbers and never what happens years later. A rebel you spared can come back a decade on

How Your Empire is different

If you want more of the same, 1 in 8 Billion is the place for it. Your Empire changes the seat

  • You rule, you are not an ordinary person

You play the ruler of a fantasy empire. Empires, peoples, rulers and faiths are invented, with names that sound like no real language. Only the cities are real: 4,396 of them, with their real borders, so every patch of land belongs to someone

  • 8,500+ events with dark humor

More than 8,500 events in 23 kinds, from coups and plagues to prophets and comets. Event texts are drama with dark humor, so a starving city and a very bad idea can share a paragraph. A 50-year reign meets about 150 to 250 of them

  • Wars, faiths and reforms

Neighbors attack, your commanders propose invasions, a prophet founds a faith in your country and an event may offer you a parliament or a revolution. Every other empire is run by a bot, so great powers rise and fall without a script

  • A longer life in 1 to 2 hours

A ruler lives 60 to 100 years. At normal speed one real minute is one game year, so a game takes 1 to 2 hours, and the server keeps it so you can close the tab and come back from your phone

  • An epithet and a card to share

Every ruler dies, and the reign is judged: people, land, wars, the rarest facts and an epithet earned by your choices. The final card is an image made for social media, and leaderboards rank the best reigns

What Your Empire is not

Your Empire is not built on real statistics about people. It will not tell you how many children are born in your country, and it has no reflective questions at set ages. If that side of 1 in 8 Billion is what stayed with you, that game is the right place for it. Your Empire is the other thing: a story about power that you get to mess up
